York Timbers is a market leader in the sawmill industry, and is currently expanding its sales and operating presence locally and internationally. Two challenging technical career opportunities have emerged in the fast-paced production environments of Sabie and Jessievale Sawmills.
These are excellent opportunities for skilled craftsmen to join highly competent technical teams. In both positions, successful people will be required to perform scheduled maintenance, repairs and inspections; they tend to breakdown and maintain proper standards of cleanliness. Candidates must also be competent Turners. Both positions must work in close collaboration with the production teams of the respective mills to guarantee maximum availability of the machine, contributing to the maximum profitability of the plant.
Grade 12 with at least N2 turning and setting trade theory and completed a full three-year apprenticeship program Valid Installer and Turner Section 13 / 26D Commercial Certificate with at least three years of post-apprenticeship experience ( in a sawmill or comparable environment will be an advantage) Solid experience regarding hydraulic and pneumatic systems and rolling elements Knowledge and experience working with job card systems as well as OHS standards Organized and structured to ensure that all work completed as quickly as possible Good interpersonal communication skills, innovative and sustainable problem solving Strong fault detection and root cause analysis skills Energetic, optimistic and able to work independently and as part of a team Strong and proactive focus on continuous process improvement Able and willing to work shifts and perform r reservation tasks
